Actually, we use the empty nut can to scoop the birdseed out of the bag, but I thought it would make a good photo prop. One of the squirrels interacts with me quite a bit. I can show her the nut can through the door and she twitches her tail and will move her head up and down when I raise and lower the can. They make a mess, but they're lots of fun.
She is still my favorite!! She interacts with me more than the others. When the food is gone they all take turns looking through the door, but she will stop and make very intense eye contact like she's saying "Don't you love me any more?"
Sometimes I show her the birdseed in the can through the glass and she twitches her tail. As soon as I open the door to dump the seed she runs off but comes back in a few minutes.
